Savyon Liebrecht was born in Germany in 1948 and came to Israel as a young child. She studied Philosophy and Literature at Tel Aviv University. She lives in Tel Aviv.
Her four collections of stories have made her what Ha'aretz called 'a kind of signpost of modern Hebrew prose'. Her writing depicts a broad panorama of contemporary Israeli society. Her work is notable for its sensitive and precise depictions of the aftermath of trauma of the Holocaust.
